Product Groups

Product Groups are the key grouping of individual vended Products. These Product Groups are used for:

• setting Sales tax rates
• setting Account Commission rates
• summarizing sales data

Therefore it is important to ensure that the Product Groups are setup flexibly to achieve all three purposes.

The fields used to define Product Groups are:

Description

The name of the Product Group. It must be unique in the list of Product Groups.

Active

Product Groups that are no longer to be used can be inactivated. They will not be available in any further selection lists.

Class

The Class of the Product Group. Refer Product Classes.

Category

The higher level grouping of this Prodcut Group into a Porduct Class. Refer Product Categories.

Cost

The standard cost of this Product Group. At the end of the Financial Period all transactions based on Product Groups will be costed out at this cost and the Financial Period will be closed.

Vend Price

The standard or default vend price that will initially come up when adding the Product Group to a new Asset plannogram.
